Happy Hen Farms November 18-22 Update. Celebrate World Egg Day!
Happy Hen Farms Weekly Update |
Good Morning,
I hope everybody's weekend went well!
The chickens got Christmas again this weekend! They always get excited when they see the big 1500 lb bag of fresh feed roll in every month and a half. This weekend was even more of a treat when a load of straw and hay came, as they love to scratch through new bedding! Here's a picture (from the January delivery) of what the bag and setup looks like. (and no, I'm not that strong, that's my dad's crane doing all the work:)
Everyday this week is available for delivery. My grandparent's office is open Tuesday and Thursday (10-3) and Friday (10-5).
Eggs:
I have about 32 dzn medium eggs and about 9-10 dzn large eggs that are up for sale! Total egg production is right around 6.5-7 dzn per day. My refrigerators have no space in them that isn't eggs!
The medium eggs' yolks are almost full size, so that is good news! I cracked a dozen of them and compared them with some large eggs, and they were just about there! There were only two Md. eggs that had noticeably small yolks. Speaking of egg yolks, I have received multiple pictures from some of you, showing lots of double yolked eggs (even a triple yolked egg!). Congratulations if you have cracked open those surprises! World Egg Day:As an interesting side-note, I just found out that there is such a thing as "World Egg Day." The only problem is that it was October 11. I didn't really notice a difference on World Egg Day, or any other "egg day" for that matter, because everyday is egg day at my house! What about at your house? In late celebration of this "holiday," I have put some links to the Egg Nutrition Center's website. They have just about everything you could possibly ever, ever, ever want to know about the, "box without hinges, chest with no lid, inside golden treasure is hid." Egg Nutrition Center websiteEgg RecipesOf course, you can ask me any question about chickens and eggs that pops into your mind as well, but these links are just more organized sources of info. Any egg-stra questions or comments are always appreciated! Thank you for your business!
